18 Years of Craftsmanship Collaboration! Tsinghua Fur Workshop Launches, Kopenhagen Fur Unlocks Innovative Expressions of Natural Fur
By late October, a crisp chill had descended on Beijing, yet inside the Kopenhagen Fur Laboratory at Tsinghua University Academy of Arts & Design, the air was warm and buzzing with energy.
The 2025 International Fur Trend, Craft & Design Workshop kicked off on schedule. Kopenhagen Fur Chief Marketing Officer Cui Yiyun, along with the brand’s senior fur designers and technicians, shared insights into global cutting-edge fur trends, crafts and innovative designs with students of Tsinghua University Academy of Fine Arts.
This workshop featured key sessions such as the “2025/2026 AW International Fur Fashion Trends”, innovative natural fur craftsmanship, practical application of production tools, and hands-on craft demos. It helped students discover that natural fur can be showcased in far more creative styles.
As a seasoned professional with years of experience in the fur industry, boasting both international perspective and local insights, Ms. Cui Yiyun, Chief Marketing Officer of Kopenhagen Fur, systematically introduced Kopenhagen Fur's brand history and industry influence, and focused on elaborating on the major strategic decision of relocating Kopenhagen Fur's operational hub to Poznań, Poland. She mentioned: “This strategic relocation marks Kopenhagen Fur's entry into a new stage of development. While preserving the essence of Denmark's century-old fur craftsmanship, it will further integrate European resources to promote the future development and fashion innovation of the global fur industry in a more efficient and sustainable manner.” This enabled the students to gain a comprehensive understanding of Kopenhagen Fur's brand philosophy and core advantages.
Ms. Liang Biyun, Chief Designer of Imagine Talent Studio under Kopenhagen Fur, conducted an in-depth interpretation of the “2025/2026 AW International Fur Design Trend Report” in conjunction with the current fashion industry's pursuit of texture and a natural lifestyle. She first explained the diverse directions of fur fashion expression in the new season: creating distinct stylistic tension through material collisions and element mixing, which also includes youthful fur designs emphasizing comfort and relaxation, conveying a warm style through soft texture and smooth silhouettes.
Subsequently, Ms. Liang Biyun showed the students the latest fur craftsmanship—KFD V5—developed and designed by Kopenhagen Fur's Creative R&D Center, elaborating on its breakthroughs in enhancing fur plasticity and optimizing designs, which provided the students with new ideas for their creations.
The session on the application of fur production tools and craft manufacturing was demonstrated and guided by Ms. Wu Shumei, Chief Craftsman of Imagine Talent Studio, closely linking theory with practice. With professional technical guidance, Ms. Wu led the students to experience the core links of fur processing in an immersive way—from explaining precise fur nailing techniques to guiding the actual operation of machines for craft processing. She demonstrated each step in detail and provided patient guidance. The students all got hands-on practice, deepening their understanding of the characteristics of fur materials and craft logic through personal operation. The scene was filled with frequent interactions and high enthusiasm for learning. Students participating in the course stated that the course content progressed layer by layer, from brand philosophy to fashion trends, and then to hands-on operation. It not only broadened their design horizons but also helped them master practical skills. They looked forward to applying what they had learned in their subsequent design creations.
Kopenhagen Fur and Tsinghua University Academy of Fine Arts have established cooperation since 2007, and this partnership has now entered its 18th year. Through close collaboration, the two parties have jointly helped students master knowledge related to natural fur materials and craftsmanship, and enhanced their capabilities in fur clothing design and application. Over the past 18 years, this cooperation platform has cultivated a large number of outstanding designers with both theoretical literacy and practical ability, who have won many professional awards at home and abroad. It has gained high popularity and authority in the fields of fur design and fashion design both domestically and internationally.
The holding of this Fur Trend, Craftsmanship and Design Workshop once again demonstrates the firm investment and in-depth synergy between the two parties in fur talent training and fashion industry innovation, inspiring more new stars in the fur industry to explore more possibilities of fur.
