  • Mink

    Mink is composed of two types of fur: top hair and underwool. The colour variations of mink range from black to white, including brown, bluish, beige, violet, and versions with different shades of top hair. The classic mink fur originated from the nature is brown. However, mink on farms are domesticated animals like cows, pigs and horses, meaning certain genetic properties can be favoured in breeding, such as the mutation color of fur as well as different hair-length qualities.

  • Chinchilla

    The chinchilla hails from the Andes Mountains in South America. Chinchilla fur is produced in several colour variants, although the original blue-grey with a white belly stripe is the most predominant. Danish chinchilla farmers are known for producing the finest chinchilla skins in the world.

    Swakara is the trade name for Karakul lamb from Namibia, derived from ‘South West Africa Karakul’. Karakul sheep were first introduced to Namibia in 1907 from Central Asia, and their farming has been a remarkable success ever since. Namibia’s arid soil, characterized by stony and sandy deserts, severely limits agriculture. As a result, raising Karakul sheep has become a vital source of income for the local community.

    With its unique charm, natural lustre, and distinctive, tight curls and waves, Swakara is a favourite among designers and fashion houses. While Karakul sheep come in black, grey, white, and brown, over 200 distinct shades can be found. A single grey Karakul pelt can display at least five different natural tones.
