Gallery: Young Europeans were taught about fur in Greece

Kopenhagen Fur has supported a new, creative summer school, which brings together and educates young Europeans from the whole fur industry - from designers and furriers, retailers and mink breeders to marketing and communication employees.

The sun was beating when 26 hopeful young people from 11 different European countries arrived at Thessaloniki Airport Thursday the 27th of August 2015. It was the beginning of ten intense days in both Kastoria and Siatista - the Greek Meccas for the fur industry.

Fur Europe and Hellenic Fur Federation have in cooperation organized the Fur Creativity Summer School where the group of young people visited a mink farm, a dressing house, big and small fur businesses and was taught in design techniques, animal ethics, sales and communication strategies - all during the ten day visit.

Support from Kopenhagen Fur

Kopenhagen Fur has supported the project and contributed with the necessary fur materials so the participants could both be taught how to work with the materials and in praxis try to work with the different possibilities and expressions of fur.

- As the world's biggest fur auction house we certainly should support such a project, because it is important that the young people get to work with quality fur, says Thomas Andersen, Head of Studio, Kopenhagen Fur.

The summer school just finished, and the pilot project will hopefully continue many summers ahead.

- It has been a great success, and we have created a foundation for organizing similar future youth events, says Adam Gono, project coordinator at Fur Europe.
