Gallery: Exciting day for the family

There were many opportunities on how to spend Sunday, 17 September, when anyone interested could swing by one of the Danish mink farms who opened their farms for the annual event 'Open Farm Day'. Everybody was introduced to an ordinary workday including feeding and caretaking of mink, followed by a walk around the farm to see the machinery and, last but not least, learn about modern farming - where traditions, innovation and animal welfare are at its best.

Besides experiencing a mink farm there were many funny activities and competitions for both children and grown-ups. Refreshments were also served for the many guests.

Well-attended farms

On all the five attending farms around Denmark visitors were met by farmers who took them on a walk around the farm. The mink farm 'Stenlundsgaard' in Haslev on Southern Zealand had 1,200 guests coming by. The mink farms 'From Mink' at Otterup on the Northern Funen, 'Sandbakkegård' close to Varde in Southern Jutland, 'Langelinie Mink' at Ryomgård in Central Jutland and 'Solhjem Pelsdyrfarm' in Hirtshals in Northern Jutland also opened their farms and received many visitors.

The farmers are already looking forward to the next 'Open Farmer Day' which will take place on 16 September 2018.
