USD Exchange rate: DKK 100 = USD 21.23.

Swakara’s April offering of 74,011 held in Copenhagen on the 10th of April 2008 sold 100% at a slightly softer level in Danish krone than last September. The average price of DKK 254.19 represented a 6% drop in DKK while realising a 9% increase in USD.

Thirty-six buyers competed strongly for this light collection. Japanese buyer Yoshitake Ninomiya dominated the buying, with hot competition from England, Italy, Hong Kong and the Ukraine. In an exciting dual for the Top Lot of D Light Lyre Purple Super, Konstantinos Bourtsos of Kastoria, Greece, paid DKK 850 (USD 180.46) for 52 pelts which represented the absolute cream of the collection.


While there can be no doubt that the weaker American dollar exerted a strong influence upon the buying power, many customers were caught by a change in trend that increased competition within the more developed sections of the catalogue. This can be accredited to two-tone dying methods, a two-shade effect achieved by bleaching the top hair to produce darker shades at the roots, and lighter tips.
