A reception for a happy Managing Director

Managing Director Torben Nielsen turns sixty on the 29th of June but Monday the 15th of June in the middle of the Kopenhagen Fur June auction, he held his birthday reception. Even the auction stopped for a short period so auction custumers could wish Torben Nielsen a happy birthday.
At four o' clock, customers, friends, employees and business connections went to the Kopenhagen Room to celebrate Torben Nielsen and present him with his presents. He got a lot of good wine, but he also received art for his walls and handicraft for his home.
Kopenhagen Furs chairman Erik Ugilt Hansen gave a speech in Torben Nielsen’s honour, where he praised Torben Nielsen’s ability to get new ideas.
- Torben, you have been and still are an inspiring director, who constantly is on the look-out for doing things smarter and better, and many of your thoughts and ideas have fallen on fertile ground and have grown strong to the benefit of our trade, Erik Ugilt Hansen said.
Erik Ugilt Hansen talked about the good times the two of them have had during the last 15 years, and how he especially liked the racer bike rides they have had from Århus to Copenhagen.
- You joined a team from Jutland that several times rode on bike from Århus to Copenhagen at a stretch – a total of 358 kilometres. And I never forget how proud you were the first time you did it, Erik Ugilt said.
Long-time customer Werner Merzbacher gave a speech where he praised the way Torben Nielsen handled the crises on the fur-marked when the Russian economy crashed in 1998.
- That was your big test, Torben, and you handled it with bravoes, Werner Merzbacher said.
Finally Torben Nielsen thanked the two speakers and all of his guests for being there. He said:
- I am happy and proud to be part of Kopenhagen Fur. It means a great deal to me to be able to stand here today with all of you and celebrate my birthday.
As the joker Torben Nielsen sometimes can be, he ended his speech with a joke.
- Where does a sixty year old man look when he needs new glasses? On his forehead, Torben Nielsen laughingly said.
On his birthday Torben Nielsen is having a private lunch.
