Typically, it takes one year from the time a fur skin is sent to the auction until the finished fur product is ready for the consumer. In spite of the fact that two thirds of the world production of fur skins is concentrated in Northern Europe, the furs are further treated and sold all over the world. A few years ago, the finished products were sold primarily in specialised fur boutiques. Now, furs are increasingly being sold in fashion shops and department stores.
Today, fur is used in more ways than previously and fur is much more integrated in the collections of the fashion houses. Fur now follows fashion trends in both style and colour.
Fur now shows great appeal to many different target groups that vary with regard to nationality, age, income and style.
