Continued market adjustment during January auction
The inspection has begun at Kopenhagen Fur and has started the 2015 sales season. With the January sale right around the corner, many stakeholders are focusing on the current state of the market.
- Many farmers are concerned about the prices they can obtain for their skins and how the market has responded to the overproduction of mink skins that we experienced last season, says Per Knudsen, Chief Auctioneer at Kopenhagen Fur.
- I expect the same price trends that we have seen during our latest auctions, that is a continued market adjustment where quality skins are rewarded by being in demand and by good competition with regard to prices, and where skins of inferior quality are not in demand, he says.
Eager customers
The sale begins on 8 January and therefore Per Knudsen cannot make any predictions concerning the average price on mink skins prior to the auction. However, he is confident that the auction will be good, due to the eager customers attending the auction.
- While visiting Saga Furs' December auction I spoke with customers who looked forward to attending our auction, says Per Knudsen.
- And our office in China also reports on increased interest from customers, he adds.
It is expected that approx. 375 to 400 customers will visit Kopenhagen Fur in Glostrup - approx. 175 from Asia and approx. 200 from other countries
