New sides of fur fashion were shown at New York Fashion Week this February. Colorful and patterned fur were some of the dominating trends, but fur was often used as accessories as well.

One of the biggest trends at New York Fashion Week was fur! Designers such as Joseph Altuzarra og Diane von Furstenberg had left the classic solid color fur behind, and presented breathtaking fur coats with colors and patterns.

Fur was also represented as luxurious accessories. Hats, collars and purses were just some of the things worn by the models on the catwalk and by the fashionistas on the streets.

Fur was seen in new ways everywhere. J. Mendel's Gilles Mendels designs were descriped by NY Daily News:

- Using fur and skins as his medium, J. Mendel's Gilles Mendel treats them as fabric, manipulating them through quilting, knitting, hand-piecing and even bonding. The resulting looks are impossibly luxe-who wouldn't want a cardigan knitted of mink?

International Business Times UK edition spotted the fur trend too and under the headline: New York Fashion Week: Fur Dominates 2014 Fall / Winter Collections, they wrote:

- BCBGMAXAZRIA opened the event making a bold statement, with fur dominating the runway. The svelte models were engulfed by oversized fur coats, hoods and trims that exuded Dr. Zhivago inspired glamour and opulence.

Fur accessories were ubiquitous in the Nicholas K show, with fur hoods and headpieces matched in stark contrast, with deep cut blouses, and low-cut pants, slung precariously below the hipbone.
