The second EU-China year of Intercultural Dialogue started with an Open Day event at the Danish Embassy in Beijing on May 13th, where more than 2.000 guests enjoyed a great day of Danish culture and the best of Danish brands and products.
As a leading Danish exporter to China, Kopenhagen Fur participated in the event with an exhibition featuring creativity in fur developed together with young design talents from China. The exhibition of innovative fur designs featured the theme of "Beyond Boundaries" allowing fur to transcend all boundaries.
Held in the meeting room in the Embassy compound, the exhibition proudly showcased a series of the latest design pieces from both Tsinghua University-Kopenhagen Fur Studio in China and Kopenhagen Fur Studio in Copenhagen. The two studios are known as centers for fur fashion innovations in the global fur and fashion industry. Among the exhibited items, the fur teddy bear attracted overwhelming attention from the visitors.

Before the exhibition, there was a media dialogue which involved Professor Xiao Wenling, head of the Department of Textile and Fashion Design of Tsinghua's Academy of Arts & Design, and three young students who have won the "Creative Fur Designer Award." Also present was Ms. Chris Cui, General Manager of Kopenhagen Fur's Beijing Office.
- Fur is versatile, said Professor Xiao, who believed that design with fur is like looking for new elements in unlimited space, where designers' imagination goes beyond all limits of the reality.
Mr. Peterson, Ambassador of Royal Danish Embassy to China, who was also present at the event, agreed. For him, great designs should be "out of our imaginations and expectations," a philosophy proudly shared by Kopenhagen Fur which has committed itself to cross-cultural and cross-industry innovations.
- For Kopenhagen Fur, says Mrs. Chris Cui, 'Beyond Boundaries' represents our commitment to the innovation of fur techniques and design, as well as the cultivation of local fur designers, so as to upgrade the Chinese fur industry together with the international fur industry.
