Olena Tsymbal, last year's winner of Mexa's design contest 'Stars of Kremlin - FUR' visited Kopenhagen Studio last week to work on her new styles.
The visit was a part of the prize she won and she spent the week in workshop developing new fur techniques for her styles with help from the Kopenhagen Studio's furriers and Michael Holm, design manager at Kopenhagen Fur.
Olena Tsymbal is a 19-year old newly graduated designer from the National Kiev University for Technology and Design. She has been working as a designer since she was 14 and the wish to work with fur emerged 2 year's ago when Olena started searching for new, exciting materials to work with. When she was introduced to the world of fur, she fell for it immediately.
-From the very beginning it felt very natural and easy for me to work with fur and this is why I developed the collection 'Don't Stop', which I introduced at 'Stars of Kremlin'. Fur is playing an important role in my next collection as well, Olena says.
The busy designer started her own brand 'Elena Issene' a month ago, so currently she is building up her new business while also working on her new collection and preparing for Ukrainian Fashion Week. The visit at Kopenhagen Studio and Kopenhagen Fur's head quarter was a special experience for her. She was very impressed when she saw all the technology behind sorting and grading of skins, and even though the auction house was big and overwhelming, she felt it had a home atmosphere to it that she liked.
-Winning the 'Stars of Kremlin' and visiting Kopenhagen Fur meant a lot to me and my career. It assured me that I want to continue working with fur, the enthusiastic designer concludes.
