Opening of giant fur centres in China
27 October 2010Markets
As demonstrated by the grand opening of two gigantic
centres on the same day in October, the expectations from the
Chinese fur market are nothing less than great. And again, in
accordance with Kopenhagen Fur's ambition, "growing with the
customers", Kopenhagen Fur was very visible at the events.
Xinji International Leather Market is a 360,000 square metre
building in Xinji City, Hebei Province, about four hours' drive
south of Beijing.
Mr Torben Nielsen, Kopenhagen Fur's Managing Director, and Mr Liang, Chairman of the market, signed the Manufacturing Programme as part of the opening ceremony. Already back in May, Kopenhagen Fur held popular seminars for local manufacturers on skin quality, auction procedures as well as fur techniques. Next round of training is on the drawing board.
Mr Torben Nielsen arrived in Northern China the next day, when Haining China Leather Market inaugurated its new centre in Tong Er Pu.
The new centre has 174,000 square meters and hosts around 700 shops, among which 300 are fur shops and the rest are leather shops. Every single shop was taken into use prior to the grand opening. Tong Er Pu is one of the major fur manufacturing areas in China. Last year the area provided Chinese consumers with some 300,000 fur coats.
Kopenhagen Fur's wonderful fashion show dazzled the 1,000 guests at the opening ceremony. Local government officials promptly gave Torben Nielsen their thumbs up in acknowledgement of their appreciation.
- During the next 10 years the Chinese fur market will continue to grow 15 per cent. The co-operation of the two companies is a great potential, sait Mr Ren Youfa, Chairman of the Haining China Leather Market, with reference to Kopenhagen Fur.
- It's amazing to see how the market grows in China, Torben Nielsen said.
