Changes to Kopenhagen Fur's 2020 auction calendar

Following the extraordinary circumstances of this year created by the Covid-19 outbreak, and the many consequences the pandemic has caused worldwide, Kopenhagen Fur has decided to adjust the auction calendar for the remaining part of 2020.

Kopenhagen Fur had originally planned and announced auctions in February, April, June and September. As we all know, the February auction was cancelled as a direct consequence of the impact of Covid-19, and while Kopenhagen Fur  managed to hold its April auction, it was under largely different conditions than usual, taking place entirely online.

The new online solution was well received by the buyers participating in the auction, and the experience gathered from our first online auction will be used to further develop and fine tune the system, so that in the coming months, it will be possible to continue selling despite any travel restrictions and related hurdles that could continue to affect many countries.

Kopenhagen Fur’s revisited auction plan for the rest of 2020 will take place as follows:

  • June - dates to be confirmed
2,5 million skins from the Kopenhagen Fur catalogue will be offered in the beginning of June in an online auction. The auction dates are not yet settled, but these will be announced as soon as possible. The collection of skins for this auction will mostly reflect the customer’s wishes to buy skins in smaller sizes and classic qualities.

  • July 7-17
4,5 million mink skins from the Kopenhagen Fur catalogue will be offered in an auction taking place 7-17 July, both days included. This postponement of the original June auction will mean that the auction will be planned and prepared as a fully physical auction. In case this was not possible, the auction will be held online.

  • August - dates to be confirmed
4,7 million mink skins from the Kopenhagen Fur catalogue will be offered in an auction taking place in the second half of August. The specific dates have not yet been set. The reason behind celebrating the September auction earlier is to make room for an additional auction later in the year.

  • Late September - dates to be confirmed
5,5 million mink skins from the Kopenhagen Fur catalogue will be sold at a later auction in late September, with dates to be confirmed. This new auction - the last of the season- is introduced to compensate the spring cancellations and limitations caused by the Covid-19 outbreak. The last auction of the year will include the sale of the minor types and outermost colors, low grades, etc., as the outcome of a physical inspection of these skins has a higher significance for the buyers.

Kopenhagen Fur is looking forward to welcome all customers to our online auction in the beginning of June.
