Kopenhagen Fur's September auction around the corner

Kopenhagen Fur's September auction is just around the corner and the inspection has begun. The inspection, where customers can examine the offered skins, stretches over ten days and after this, the auction will begin Friday 9 September.

- We are offering approx. 4 million mink skins during this auction, which is our last in this season. This is a smaller offering compared to our September auction last season. We expect a positive interest in the auction room and our preliminary reports from our international customers confirm that there is a need for our goods, says Jesper Uggerhøj, CEO of Kopenhagen Fur.

However, he emphasizes that price levels are not expected to be satisfying for Kopenhagen Fur's mink breeders.

- The decline in the world production of mink is the result of an increased balance between supply and demand. In 2015, the world production was at approx. 82 million mink and now it is estimated to be at approx. 54 million. However, we are still in a process where the market must adapt, which is reflected in the prices this season, he says.

It is expected that approx. 500 customers will visit Kopenhagen Fur during the auction. In addition to this many customers will follow the auction via live stream from Kopenhagen Fur's facilities in the Chinese city Tongerpu.

Approx. 4 million mink are offered during the September auction from 9 September to 15 September.
