Kopenhagen Fur September auction starts saturday
4 September 2012Auction
The inspection for Kopenhagen Fur's September auction has started, and the first customers have already arrived at the auction house to inspect the collection. The total mink offering will consist of 4.1 million mink skins and small batches of other skin types. The September auction will gather almost 600 customers from all around the world.
The September auctions marks the ending of the Kopenhagen Fur 2011/12 sales season. This season has been characterized by an increasing demand on mink skins, which have brought the average price on mink to a new record high. At last the market has met its point of saturation, which adds up to a more conservative buying policy among the customers.
- The record high pricelevel and the increased competition in retail will probably result in caution among the buyers at the auction. Both manufacturing companies and wholesale enterprises are experiencing a decrease in earnings, and they need to improve their business-strategy. Fur is now more than ever visible in the world of fashion, and we are experiencing a great demand, but the downstream industries need to ensure better earnings for the sake of the future economic sustainability in the fur industry, so says Kenneth Loberg, Sales Director at Kopenhagen Fur.
The mink collection at the September auction is the end of season-collection, which is characterized by lowgrades and smaller offerings. On Sunday the 9th of September we have a very strong collection of Swakara which is expected to be met by a great demand among buyers.
The auction will be held from Saturday the 8th of September through Friday the 14th of September.
